For myself and many others its travel season! Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are coming up! I fly to see my kids and grankids. Sometimes its for work. Either way you need to keep it organized to make your travel run smoother.
A tip that I have for you guys it to either get a binder or a sturdy folder first!
The size of binder depends on how much travel and how many people you are travelling with. 1″ or 2″ binders are usually fine. Some binders come with dividers/inserts, if not then you can buy that. . As for the folder, it need to be a strong paper folder or a folder with a pouch in it. Your preference. You want a place to put all stuff/papers related to travel in one place!
Then group everything by trip, then by date!!
Have all of your paperwork go in chronological order! From Monday to Sunday or the 1st to the 10th. So plane tickets , then car rentals, then hotel reservations, then….etc. Best way I have found to do it!!
Thanksgiving is in a few days!
Are you ready?
And I am calm.
How am I calm during what is considered a stressful time? I planned!
I am the cook for the family for Thanksgiving. After a few stress filled holidays, I learned to create a binder. My binder consists of:
A timeline of events (which can be modified)
Inventory of thanksgiving related supplies AFTER thanksgiving (so I know what to buy later)
Also I have a container filled with Thanksgiving related supplies.
I usually buy my food supplies a week before Thanksgiving. Sometimes I have many of the ingredients already. I open the binder and look in the kitchen and pull out what i have already. And shop for what I need.
All of these things has made my life easier for Thanksgiving. Maybe this would work for you too!!
Its not too late to start the process.
Thanksgiving is tomorrow! I cook for my family every year. Its the one holiday that is mine to give. Here are a few tips that have worked for me:
- For the menu, keep it simple and stick to the “fan” favorites!
- Create a binder for your holiday recipes.
- Try one new dish each year, but get the post-meal review. If it’s a YAY or NAY.
- Accept help. You don’t have to do everything alone.
- During the meal, have each person say ONE thing they are thankful for.
Also I found that right after Halloween, I bought my Thanksgiving table ware and settings like tablecloths, and plates and napkins. They are plentiful at that time. Sometimes you can find products the week of Thanksgiving and at GREAT prices but the selection is limited. AND of course the day after Thanksgiving, you might find items at amazing prices that you can use for next year.
