Super Thought of the Day- What Would Happen If I Didn’t Go Grocery Shopping For A Week?

Image result for no grocery shopping challengeWhat if you didn’t go to a grocery store for a week?

Would you have enough food to eat without running out? Now make sure you answer that question correctly. I’m not asking if there is food there but you don’t want to eat it LOL Would you have enough food to eat for a week?

Some people hoard food or buy so much food and just store it until it goes bad.

Lets eat our food and declutter those spaces!

Super Thought of The Day- What If I Used The Sauce Packets

Taco Bell Hot Sauce Packet Costume SetInspired by a friend of mine, I decided to start using the sauce packets ion my drawer!! Yes the sauce packets! More than likely they will sit in there and go back and you’ll be throwing them out one day. So I thought what if I used them instead of the bottles that I have. So that’s the mustard, ketchup, mayo and salsa! Now I have no more packets of sauce in my drawers. Try it

Don’t Add Clutter TO Mothers Day

We spend millions of dollars on “stuff” to give as gifts for our Mothers, Grandmothers, Godmothers, Spouses,, etc. for Mother’s Day. Since I’m all about organization and keeping clutter to a minimum, I have a few suggestions for Mothers Day gifts that won’t add too much but can pack an emotional punch for that special lady.

Framing– Look around your house or hers, is there something special you could frame and give to her as a gift? A picture of all the kids? A shirt and bib from a marathon she conquered? Artwork? A menu from your favorite restaurant? The idea is to find something that is special to her that is ALREADY in existence and frame it and present it to her in a new and thoughtful way. AND it save bringing MORE stuff in the house.

Food and Drink: Getting her that chocolate she like is nice, but what about making her a special meal? And if you can;t cook, ordering her a meal from her favorite restaurant and having it delivered! There are delivery services out there like EAT 24, that deliver from your favorite restaurants in your area. Top it off with that bottle of wine she likes and/or cupcakes!

Coupons: An old time fav! Either you OR the kids can make homemade coupons for goods and services and put them in her card or special envelope. This is especially good for the kids. I’m sure MOM would love to have a day off from doing dishes or sorting the laundry. It also teaches kids responsibility and giving back to others, And for the adults, your coupons could be for a 1 hour message, pick up dry cleaning, or something more adult, ahem…

There are other examples out there but these are just a few ideas i wanted to share. We have many holidays throughout the year where buying a gift is encourged and we just gain more and more stuff. I feel its okay for a few of the holidays to forgo that and choose a different way to give. Also it brings back the personal side to the day.  Look around the house and see whats there.

Monday Monday

Happy Monday Everyone in the Super Organizer Universe! I’m coming to the last week of my road trip across the United States. I Started out in New Mexico, then Kansas City, both Kansas and Missouri sides, Pittsburgh, New York City (and Brooklyn), and next Chicago and Sacramento (with a quick stop in Los Angeles). While I love to travel outside the country, I LOVE traveling within our borders! Every city and region is different from the next. I recommend that everyone go and explore. You can even start with the places I just mentioned above.

I’m a store/grocery store freak! I like to shop at these places and see what they offer that is different from what I get in LA. Places like: Publix, Aldi, Giant Eagle, FoodTown, Kroger, Winn-Dixie, Kuhns, Price Chopper. There are certain regional items that I can only get at some of these stores like my Skyline Chili in Southern Ohio or my Goya Brand products in NYC. Yes Goya is now sold across the country but the selection is larger on the East Coast. And you can find many organizing supplies at these places for prices that are amazing!

Parts of our country are really beautiful! I loved waking up to a beautiful sunrise in the desert of Albuquerque! Or travelling through the Bonneville Salt Plains in Utah (it’s so bright!).I love the corn fields in the Midwest, even though you could NEVER get me to go in them! The roads are different. The way street lights are hung and so much open space that I don’t get to see in So Cal. My other favorite thing is seeing the architecture of the buildings and homes. The A Frame homes, brick homes, the very tall apartment buildings, I could go on and on.

It’s nice to see other surroundings. It’s good to experience things outside of your usual. I will admit that if I’m gone too long, I get a little homesick. I LOVE living in Los Angeles! But its nice go away and miss it sometimes, then I come home and appreciate it more! Also I take what i see and taste and experience and bring it back with for inspiration. I feel re energized! This trip I finished proofreading a book that I am writing. Also I started writing a screenplay for a musical I’ve been kicking around my head for some time. AND I’m anxious to get back to LA and finish some paintings I started. Changing your scenery can be good for your psyche.

I have a great appreciation for our country and I feel very fortunate that I am able to travel across it!
