I Totally Forgot I Still Had That!

I’m inviting you all to a challenge.

For many of us, clothes and shoes are the bane of our existence. We have pounds and pounds of clothes or racks and racks of shoes. Ask yourself, do you wear 90 percent of your clothes? If you do, then you are doing great!! You must rotate well and like the diversity of your wardrobe. If you are anything less than 90 percent, then this challenge is for you!

My goal is for you to reduce clutter and keep what you actually wear. And I will expand this to clothes of different seasons. So if you divide your clothes into seasons, this challenge is for the current season.

I want you to pick 3 things you haven’t worn in 6 months or longer and wear them within this next week!

When you pick those three things, if you can’t fit any of them or they are stained, ripped beyond repair, its time to get them out the house,

I am going to do the challenge myself and post pics on my FB page @thesuperorganizer

2 Ways To Make More Room IN Your Closet

1. Multipurpose clothing! Reversible belts and jackets and sweat shirts . I have a couple of belts that are black on one side and brown on the other. And shoes with several colors in them. For example I have shoes that are black with brown accents. SO I can wear the shoes with more outfits and use the belt for more clothes.

2. Buying pants in colors and styles you can wear with multiple tops! Jeans are the best. A good pair of jeans and you can dress up and dress down. You can have 10 pairs of pants for 20 tops. You don’t need a pair of pants for every shirt! Black and Blue and Brown are good colors to match with .

Super Tip Thursday- Making Room For That Jacket IN The Closet

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Do you have a hard time fitting your newly bought clothes in your closet? Maybe its time to thin out.

Does it seem like you don’t have room for the clothes that CAME out of the closet?

One suggestion is to take time out of a day and go through and take out the old clothes and/or clothes you don’t wear anymore.

There might be things that could be folded instead of hung. Take those out. ( of course you need to make sure that your drawers are nice)

The plan is to have a less than full closet so that when you do need to hang something up, it will be easier.

Shelf Dividers for Organization

20141123_132605

There are ways to make your existing shelf space work for you. In some cases you need a shelf to house multiple items. In other cases you need to found ways to make MORE room on your shelves. Shelf Dividers are one great way to do both. I saw these at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Then I saw this on Walter Drake.

All of them are inexpensive!

Happy Shopping!

Fast Friday Tip- Pants Hangers as Boot Hangers!

enhanced-buzz-14370-1344627690-5

I got this idea from browneidgirl.blogspot.com and tried it with a client and they loved it! The clients liked that the boots were off the floor or crammed on a shoe rack. Plus they were at her eye level and there was no more bending down for her. Good for her back. I have now added this as an option in my practice. It might work for your space and needs.

3 Ways To Make More Room In Your Closet

modern-closet
Do you have a hard time fitting your newly bought clothes in your closet?
Maybe its time to thin out.
One suggestion is to go through and take out the old clothes and/or clothes you don’t wear anymore. That is probably the most obvious but sometimes we forget what’s in there. Even I have discovered jackets or shirts in the BACK of the closet that I hung up and forgot about. Then there are those of us who either lose or gain weight and we haven’t gotten to the closet yet and gone through the old clothes.
There might be things that could be folded instead of hung. Take those out. I’m a fan of NOT hanging sweaters. I feel it stretches out and ruins the shape. (Though I do know people who will fold a sweater in half and drape it over the hanger.) My point is that you may have more room elsewhere (dresser drawers, armoires) where other things can go, which in turn makes more room in the closet.
Then there is the thing that I am guilty of sometimes, putting other non clothes items in the closet. Get those things out of there and to their appropriate places. Toys, luggage, papers. Get them out of there and you’ll have more room.
We go shopping. We get gifts for our birthday or at Christmas. You want to have a place to put them when they enter your space.
The overall plan is to have a less than full closet so that when you do need to hang something up, it will be easier…and organized.
