The White Glove Test

white_glove_cleaning

Not sure if your cleaning/housekeeping person/staff is doing a good job? Are you sure of what to look for in a clean space?

I have created a Cleaning Checklist. I will come in and do a”Black Glove/White Glove”test and audit your apartment/house/office. For $25, I will go room by room, with the checklist I created (from years of experience) , and make an analysis of how clean your space really is. You will receive a full detailed report you can use for evaluation.

Everyone does not clean in the same way. Also an area or space “looks” clean but at a closer look, it really isn’t. For an additional fee, I can come in and clean your space to show you the difference. OR I can come in and show the person who is doing the cleaning, what the not so positive areas are and ways to correct the situation. My goal is for you to have a clean, safe space!

Super Tip Thursday-Do You See What I See

cluttered-family-room

For ME and many of my clients, when I SEE obvious results in cleaning and organizing, I’m motivated to continue the process. SO you have a lot of places and spaces to declutter or clean out, or organize, my tip is to start with the areas that are the MOST VISIBLE. Starting with the most visible cluttered area first and getting that done can really boost your confidence and increase your feeling to get organized. I’m a very visual person. If my room is a mess, I’ll make my bed and that makes me want to continue getting the rest of the room in order.

Quick, Hide, Someone’s At The Door!

Century-Door

First of all let me state for the record that I’m not a big fan of the “pop in”, where a person stops by without any warning or prior notice. I understand that you really could be in the neighborhood and want to stop by and see me. I like a phone call or a text at least. Of course it still happens, and I hate being caught off guard with a crazy looking house. So if this happens to you, then I have a thought to share with you: Uncluttering my home allows me to welcome unexpected guests with fear, embarrassment, or stress.

While you are doing your Spring Cleaning, there are several major holidays during this time (Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day) and other events that usually happen (Graduation, Prom, Spring Break). There are also a lot of birthdays during this time, so there are many instances where someone may stop over. My suggestion is to start with the room people will see first!

If people come through the front door, then start with THAT room. If folks are coming in a side entrance and it leads to the kitchen, then unclutter the kitchen. You get the idea. It’s good for YOU to do this but the added benefit is that “they” can’t make any disparaging comments or make fun of you. Uncluttering has so many benefits!

Super Tip Thursday: We All Need Some Self Control

658f1f2ce230f93ff62b97025c52faa4

I have a couple of weaknesses. I really like music and anything music related. I love bags, backpacks, luggage. I have an extreme fondness for shoes.  There were times in my life I bought all three ALL the time and they overtook the space in my house! In recent years, I’ve cut down the purchasing of the three and my life has been the better for it! Living in a state of Unclutter helps me practice self control.

Starting with items and things, if I can avoid impulsively buying stuff, then that will allow me to control my urges (and my emotions) and transform my living space. If I have more self control in this area, then this will affect other areas in my life! Self control is disciplining myself to be a better person.

Super Tip Thursday- When You Live With Others

LogoColorTextBelow.111203434_std

Whether it’s your husband or sister or kids or housemate, establish this one household rule: If you make a mess, then you clean it up! If you can get everyone to agree to that, then that’s the first step.  The second step is sticking to it! Don’t get mad and clean it up for them then yell at them for it. It sets a pattern that will be learned. “It doesn’t matter if I make a mess, she’ll clean it up anyway. Yeah, she’ll be mad for a minute but…” Then you end up doing all the work. Make everyone responsible for their own stuff.  Thirdly, everyone has to agree to clean up their mess NOW not LATER.  Remember it’s ALL in the delivery. Ask and remind them that they agreed to this rule and hold them to it.  No one had to be nasty or yell, simply stick to the facts of the rule..If you make a mess, then you clean it up!
