Life can bring many challenges. Some of them are unexpected and others are for a time period. A major trauma or loss can happen and its reasonable to not keep up on your organized routine for a bit. It’s really OKAY! The important things are meeting your basic responsibilities like getting sleep, paying the bills on time, going to work, taking care of the kids and eating.
I’ve been through some tough times and the last thing on my mind was picking up clothes off the chair. But there have been times when cleaning and organizing really kept me sane! The bottom line was to NOT fall into the guilt trap! It’s not fair to yourself!
The goal is to not fully fall back into old patterns. Also many clutter issues can be borne out of trauma and loss. There are professionals that can help. And there are Professional Organizers (like myself) that can help you with getting back on track to where you were before a tragedy. (They can also help while you are going through it too.)
