A year and a half ago I was going through some health issues that were giving me discomfort. I couldn’t breathe and my stomach hurt. I would wake up choking in the middle of the night. Sometimes I would have sharp pains in my chest. After a month of tests and x-rays, I found out I have gastroenteritis AND a digestive problem. It was determined that my digestive tract was not properly breaking down my food. I was so happy to find out what the problem was but now I had a problem I had to get under control! Yikes!
So my daily routine is ONE probiotic in the morning and 2 digestive enzymes after every meal. Probiotics are the healthy bacteria naturally present in your digestive tract.They help keep the body healthy. In addition, probiotics can enhance nutrient absorption, help break down lactose, strengthen your immune system, and possibly even help treat irritable bowel syndrome. You can find them just about anywhere like GNC, Sprouts Markets. Other sources of probiotics are low-fat yogurt or kefir, on a daily basis. I always keep yogurt in the fridge.
Drinking plenty of water is good for your digestive health. Water in your digestive system helps dissolve fats and fiber, allowing these substances to pass through more easily.
I’ve added a high-fiber diet. It can also help you prevent or treat various digestive conditions, such as diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, and irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, it can help you achieve or maintain a healthy weight.
Too much stress or anxiety can cause your digestive system to go into overdrive. Find stress-reducing activities that you enjoy and practice them on a regular basis. Some of the things I do to relax are: bubble baths, yoga, gardening, and reading.
Digestive health is important! It is happening to a lot of folks as early as their 30s. Listen to your body and Please take care of yourselves!
