My grandma Mitzi believed that vacuuming and/or sweeping the floor/rug enhanced a rooms appearance. I happen to agree with her on a certain level. When I am cleaning or organizing, I usually leave the dusting, sweeping and vacuuming until the end. I work from the top ( counters, drawers, shelves, etc) and then go down when it comes to organizing. BUT there are occasions where I started from the bottom and worked from there.
One way to do this is to pick a room you are going to clean or organize and then vacuum or sweep first. If you encounter things on the floor, you pick them up and deal with them accordingly (trash, recycle, items that need to go to their correct place like toys, socks, shoes). See organization starts to happen! As you continue to vacuum, you can also move furniture around and see if there is stuff to pick up and put away. As you sweep around tables, you might get inspired to clean off the table or at least straighten it up. Meanwhile the room becomes refreshed looking. And vacuuming/sweeping IS a form of cleaning! For me its very similar to making your bed and how that can help your bedrooms appearance. Try it!
